Psalm 3

A Psalm of David when he fled from the face of Absalom.
Why are they so many, O LORD, that trouble me? a great multitude are they, that rise against me. Yea many one there be that say of my soul: There is no help for him in God. Selah. But thou, O LORD, art my defender, my worship, and the lifter up of my head.
¶ I call upon the LORD with my voice, and he heareth me out of his holy hill. Selah. I laid me down and slept, but I rose up again, for the LORD sustained me. I am not afraid for thousands of the people, that compass me round about. Up LORD, and help me, O my God: for thou smitest all mine enemies upon the cheek bones, and breakest the teeth of the ungodly. Help belongeth unto the LORD, therefore let thy blessing be upon thy people.
